CJ Chenier
and His Red Hot
Louisiana Band
w/ The Tim Betts Band
7:00 PM Doors/ 9:00 PM Show
$10.00 in advance/ $12.00 day of show

|
When zydeco superstar C.J. Chenier stepped onto the main stage at the 2001 Chicago Blues Festival and looked over the crowd of 60,000 eager fans, he had one thing in mind: get them on their feet and make them dance. Almost immediately after launching into their first song, C.J. Chenier and The Red Hot Louisiana Band had people young and old shaking their hips and cheering in unison. With a solo career dating back to 1987 and five previous albums under his belt, C.J. Chenier is widely and wildly regarded as one of the genre’s best singers, musicians and live performers. According to The Boston Globe, “C.J. Chenier attacks the accordion with the tension and drive of James Brown...creating contemporary, turbo-charged dance music.” Living Blues magazine named C.J. Chenier “the best living zydeco singer and accordionist,” and Billboard called him “the heir to the zydeco throne.”

Dark Water Rising
w/ The Family
Crystal Bright & The Silver Hands
Megan Jean and The KFB
7:00 PM Doors/ 8:30 PM Show
$8.00 in advance/ $10.00 day of show
|
The band name, Dark Water Rising, originates from the home of its members. Robeson County, known for its rich Lumbee culture, thrives from the nourishment of swamplands and rich, dark water of the Lumber River. The dark watered swamps are legendary for providing hide outs and escape routes for Native Americans during the Civil War.
Driven by the rocking rhythms of Aaron Locklear (drums) and Eric Locklear (bass guitar), the music lends itself and the open floor for anyone willing to let go and spread the energy. As lead guitarist, Corey Locklear graces each of DWR’s songs with passionate, carefully pieced lines and melodies. Described as the "bread and butter" of Dark Water Rising, Ms. Charly Lowry (rhythm guitar/vocals), Ms. Ciera-Dial Locklear (keys/vocals) and Ms. Brittany Jacobs (saxophone/percussion/vocals) grab the lyrics by the horns and deliver with soul, truth, and harmony.

Called “a living, breathing, force of nature” by Relix, THP are known for powerhouse live performances and catchy tunes. The group became an instant Sirius radio sensation in 2007 with the release of their double-disc debut album, Whale, driven by hit tracks “Operation of Flight” and “Sleep.” First embraced by the jam scene for their raw talent, their cross-over sound that is showcased on their self-titled album and was dubbed a “Top 10 Album of 2010” by The Huffington Post, propelled them into the periphery of mainstream music. Major festival darlings, THP have taken the stage at Bonnaroo, High Sierra, Gathering of the Vibes, moe.down, Langerado, Summercamp, All Good, Wakarusa, Bear Creek, Mountain Jam and their namesake PetZoo. THP will release their third studio album and second effort with 102° Records, Swim Out Past the Sun, featuring a three song sit-in by David Grisman on October 22nd.

Carbon Leaf
w/ Tim Brantley
8:00 PM Doors/ 10:00 PM Show
$10.00 in advance/ $13.00 day of show
|
Now in their 20th year of award-winning recording, all while consistently traversing America with their nonstop touring schedule, Carbon Leaf can look back at an impressive portfolio of achievements, as they continue to produce a steady stream of new music and tour throughout North America during 2011.
Hailing from Virginia, the same musically fertile purlieu that has nurtured the likes of Dave Matthews Band, Bruce Hornsby and Jason Mraz, Carbon Leaf's sound reflects a wide range of influences. Their unique blend of Folk-Rock, Americana, Celtic, Bluegrass, Rock and Pop certainly lends itself to a variety of genres. But the title of one of their early albums, Ether-Electrified Porch Music, seems to conjure the right image: An aura of warmth, with music punctuated by diverse instruments including mandolin, upright bass, violin, B3, rhodes and banjo, as well as acoustic and electric guitars.

Joey Barnes
and Friends
8:00 PM Doors/ 10:00 PM Show
|
“I’m stepping out, no turning round…” croons Joey Barnes in his song “The Wire (Act One)”. The native of Greensboro, NC released his third solo EP, Change, through Nascent Republic Records in February.
Featured on VH1’s Top 20 Countdown, a portion of the EP goes directly to NextAid, where the proceeds are helping build a community center in the slums of Nairobi. Change follows previously released Always and Second Chances. The albums were recorded during breaks from his touring and recording schedule with multi-platinum and award winning rock band Daughtry, of which he was a member from 2007-2010. Beyond writing his own music, Joey uses his talents to produce music for other artists on the Nascent Republic label and beyond.
