By Meg Humphrey
Shake off those winter blues and get into your dancing shoes, The John Kadlecik Band is
back on tour! JKB’s 2018 winter tour will wrap up to the southeast after touring in Colorado
and the midwest. They will be making stops in Jacksonville at 1904 on March 7th, then head
down to Boca Raton for two nights at The Funky Biscuit, March 8th and 9th. They roll over to
Tampa Bay next, to play at Skipper’s Smokehouse on March 10th then finish the Florida run in
Gainesville at High Dive on March 11th. Columbia, SC is the next stop on March 13th at Music
Farm on March 13th, then on to Charleston on March 14th at The Pourhouse. The tour wraps
up with a three-night run in North Carolina from Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh on Mach 15th to
Asheville on March 16th at The Grey Eagle, and finishes in Greensboro at The Blind Tiger on
March 17th
While Kadlecik is well-known for his love for playing music of the Grateful Dead and Jerry
Garcia, his shows offer an extensive repertoire of songs. John has been writing music and
playing in bands for over three decades and has gained an appreciation for music of all kinds.
His set lists are new for each show and always include a wide variety of originals and covers.
From George Harrison to The Who, from Bob Dylan to Van Morrison, John’s arrangements
are both interesting and inventive. And while he enjoys paying tribute to many renowned
artists, his song choices are unique and often obscure.
The John Kadlecik Band currently features an amazing line up of longstanding musicians with
a variety of musical backgrounds. On drums will be the incredible Jay Lane. He and Kadlecik,
first played together in Furthur in 2009. Lane had been drumming in RatDog prior to the
dawn of Furthur, and with Primus before that. As of late, Golden Gate Wingmen and Oteil
and Friends have been ongoing projects for Kadlecik and Lane, as their musical brotherhood
continues to deepen.
Benjie Porecki will be delighting audiences with his soulful and playful approach to keys.
Porecki has been playing for many year with numerous greats, such as Chaka Khan, Marshall
Keys, Chuck Brown and Pieces of a Dream. in the DC area and beyond. More recently he
has been featured in Keller Williams’ Grateful Gospel and plays frequently with his jazz organ
trio, Firm Roots.
New to JKB for this tour is Chicago-based bassist, “Wavy” Dave Burlingame. Well-known for
his singing, songwriting and banjo playing with the jam-grass band Cornmeal, Wavy has been
a mainstay in the Chicago music community for more than 20 years.. He still currently plays
with Cornmeal and also plays bass withTerrapin Flyer, and various side projects like his Traffic
tribute 40,000 Headmen and acoustic bluegrass group The Dimestore String Band.
